dc.description.abstract The main objective of this research is to study the outcome of treatment of hyperthyroidism with Radio Active Iodine (RAI). 53 hyperthyroid patients were studied by measuring thyroid hormones before and after iodine 131 therapy. During 2—3 months follow up 47 of patient's (88%) were well response to RAI therapy. The mean level of TSH, T3 , T4 before RAI treatment was.35, 9.9 and 201 n mol/l while the mean level after treat ment (2 -3 months) was 2.12,2.28 and 105 nmo/l respectivel . normal TSH values (0.4 ---- 4 nmol/l) ,The normal T3 values (1.2 ---- 3.5 nmol/l) and the normal T4 values (50 ---- 150 nmol/l). . . The mean RAI dose given to the patients was 13 mci. And the dose ranged from (10----30)mci. During 3—6 months follow up only 6 (13.3%) patients from the total number of patients need further RAI dose. i.e. only 13.3 patients show none response During one year follow up 13 (24.5%) Patients suffer from hypothyroidism as results of RAI therapy side effects en_US
