Abstract:
This study was concerned with the evaluation of pre-operative chest x-ray. The study was conducted in Radiology and Medical Imaging department in Soba University Hospital.
Fifty patients of different ages and gender(male and female) elected for different types of operations under general anaesthesia were selected for the research. All of them were x-rayed for their chest on day of operation.
The images showed that forty patients have normal chest x-ray and the operations were done, while ten patients have abnormal chest and the operations were delayed.
Ten technologists, ten anaesthetists and ten surgeons were questioned to confirm the practice outcome or to find more information from their experiences.
The objectives of the study is to assess the usefulness of pre-operative chest x-ray to the surgeon, anaesthetist and to the patient, and to show the common diseases that can alter the surgical plan and to check the type of patients who must undertake the exam .
From the study , it is clear that pre-operative chest x-ray is very important especially for the aged patients and there is a need of a radiologist to diagnose the pre-operative chest x-ray on the day before the operation.
