Abstract:
The smart control is seen today as one of the most important factors in the modern industry. This due to its perfectness, flexibility and speed of implementation. One of the thousands applications of it can be seen in water treatment plants, which are mainly established to ensure continuous supply of pure and good quality water. These plants are mainly concerned for the conservation of water that is achieved by application of automation controls.
This thesis aims in general to design a fully automated water treatment station. With the objective of reducing the amount of water losses, by applying automation on one of the various methods of water treatment, which is ion exchange method. All of devices and instruments used in these operations are fully automated and controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), STEP7300 from Siemens Company which is programmed by the S7 SIMATIC software. Then PLCSIM simulator program was used to test the operations and the results were satisfactorily and system showed a good performance.
