| dc.description.abstract | A Cross-sectional study performed in Khartoum state during period from May to July 2013. The aim of the study is to assess of plasma level of urate and hsC-reactive protein among Sudanese with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Fifty blood samples were collected from Sudanese diabetic patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, their age range from (40-75) years, and fifty healthy volunteers as control group for the comparison. Plasma uric acid and random blood glucose were estimated enzymatically by colorimeter, and hs-CRP was estimated quantitatively by i-CHROMA, then data were analyzed by Statistical (SPSS) computer software. The study showed no significant increase or decrease in the uric acid level in the study group of type 2 diabetes mellitus when compared with control group (3.6 .86 mg/dl) versus (3.7 .73 mg/dl) respectively, (p.value=0.79). The result of the present study showed a significant increase in the blood hsCRP of patients when compared with control group (3.56 2.70) and (0.45 0.21) respectively the p.value (0.000). Also there is significant elevation of plasma levels of hsCRP in females with type 2 diabetes mellitus when compared with the males (4.44 3.07 mg/l) versus (2.69 1.97 mg/l) respectively, (p.value=0.020). But the mean of RBG in diabetic patients not altered values in males nearly the same in females. The result also showed that the three parameters measured were not affected by the age of patients. The study also showed significant increase in the mean of RBG and hsCRP in diabetic patients having the disease more than 10 years than the patients of duration less than 10 years the p.value (0.001) and p.value (0.044) respectively. But the uric acid not affected by the duration of disease. Pearson correlation showed that no any a correlation existed between the uric acid and RBG, uric acid and hsCRB. But significant positive correlation was found between RBG and hsCRP in diabetic patients with type 2 (r=0.508, p=0.000). | en_US |
