dc.description.abstract This study aims to prepared (5-(diethylamino)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl) pent-1-en-3-one) as Mannich base, and then used as a ligand with three different metal ions, Cobalt (II), Nickel (II) and Zinc (II). The percentage yield of obtained compounds wear as: (Salicylidineactenomethyl diethylamine (71.55) %. - Co – complex (41.04) % - Ni- complex (85.18) % - Zn- complex (66.05) %). The free ligand and synthesized complex wear studied spectroscopically using IR, UV/VIS techniques. The I R spectra show the most characterization bands associated with ligand and complexes, (OH at 3400, C=O at 1648 and CNC at 1239) groups for ligand. And (OH at 3556 – 3382 - 3438, C=O at 1635 – 1627 - 1633, CNC at 1155 – 1157 - 1024, M-O at 721 – 717 – 690 and M-Cl at 430 – 432 – 459) groups for (Co – Ni – Zn) complexes respectively. A UV/VIS spectrum is due to the electronic transition of phenyl ring and carbonyl group and also nitrogen. The ligand show bands at (215 – 255 – 339) nm, Co-complex show bands at (220 – 258 – 340) nm, Ni-complex show bands at (205 –383) nm and Zn-complex show bands at (227 – 257 – 333) nm. The antimicrobial activity of ligand and complexes have been studied for their antibacterial and antifungal activity by Disc diffusion method the antibacterial activity wear curried out using (Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus , Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria and (Candida albicans ) fungi. The antimicrobial property of the ligand is better than complexes. Salicylidineactenomethyl diethylamine is very active with ( Escherichia coli - Pseudomonas aeruginosa -Staphylococcus aureus - Bacillus subtilis) it give inhibition zone (22-24-29-30)mm respectively, and active with (Candida albicans) inhibition zone (18)mm. Co – complex is active with( Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus) it give inhibition zone (14)mm and partially active with (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) it give inhibition zone (11)mm also it is very active with (Bacillus subtilis) it give inhibition zone (19)mm, and partially active with ( Candida albicans) inhibition zone (13)mm. Ni- complex complex is active with (Escherichia coli - Staphylococcus aureus - Bacillus subtilis) it give inhibition zone (13-17-15) mm respectively, and partially active with (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) inhibition zone (11) mm. and also partially active with (Candida albicans) inhibition zone (12) mm. Zn- complex is partially active with (Pseudomonas aeruginosa -Staphylococcus aureus) it gives inhibition zone (11-9) mm respectively, and its active with ( Escherichia coli - Bacillus subtilis) it give inhibition zone (16-13)mm respectively ,and also active with (Candida albicans) inhibition zone (18)mm. en_US
