Abstract:
In this study zinc copper aluminate (Zn0.5Cu0.5Al2O4) sample was produced using combustion method. The structure properties of the synthesized sample were studied by X-rays diffraction (XRD). The results confirm the formation of spinel structure with some other crystalline phases related to copper oxides. The average crystallite sizes of 10.36 nmwere calculated using the XRD patterns and Scherrer’s equation. The obtained microstrain value of the sample was 0.0082. The existence of metal oxide bondsof the sample was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy technique. The absorption peaks for the Al2O4and Zn-O bonds were observed at 555.59 cm-1 and 496.64cm-1,respectively.
The optical properties of the synthesized sample were investigated using Ultra violate–visible (UV-vis) technique. Absorption peak was observed in UV wavelength rang. The measurements show that the sample possesses direct band gap of 4.12 eV.
Antibacterial activities of the synthesized Zn0.5Cu0.5 Al2O4 sample against E.Coli (Gram Negative bacteria)were evaluated by Agar disc diffusion method. Theobtained diameters of zone of inhibition were14 mmand 12mm. The results show that the produced nanocrystals have high anti-bacterial efficiency toward the growth of E. coli (Gram Negative bacteria).
