Abstract:
Research on using renewable energy in cooling purpose is one of the most important issues all over the world especially solar energy. Recent years the usage of air conditioning and refrigeration systems based on vapor compression cycle which depend on conventional energy has been increased so that resulted in a significant increase in demand for primary energy during summer months at peak load, the solar air conditioning is one of the few solutions provided to overcome the summer high demand peak loading.
In this thesis solar cooling technologies have been reviewed and potential of solar energy in Sudan identified ,the objective of this thesis is also aim to perform design calculation for photovoltaic system grid tie type to drive conventional air-conditioner. The calculation is done by using PVSYST Photovoltaic design software. Solar data used in design and simulation are collected based on longitude and latitude of Khartoum city simulation result showed that the solar hybrid photovoltaic air conditioning system can implement, and the solar hybrid evacuated collector has been viewed too.
Therefore it’s found from simulation the solar energy has an attractive application for air-conditioning drive energy options and can contribute to reduce peak load because increase demand for cooling coincident with the abundant of solar energy.
It’s conclude that the contribution of solar energy systems to meet energy demand by air conditioning system in Khartoum State is still very low so it’s recommended to Encourage uses of solar assist A/C unit in residential building and Provide facilities for investors to invest in the solar panels industry as a partnership with the government to overcome the cost of PV panel also it recommended for practical implementation of this thesis in pharmaceutical industry in future study.
