Characterization of Loin Pain in Adults using Ultrasonography

Abstract

This study was as a descriptive study aimed to evaluate the main causes of loin pain and the ability of ultrasound to find those causes, the study carried out in El Hikma clinics complex and Al.alim center in Khartoum state from (October 2018 to March 2019). The study covered 80 patients whom scanned Trans abdominal using. ESAOTE and SHIMADZU ultrasound machines. Data was collected using data sheets and analyzed using collecting data program study found that the main age group associated with loin pain is from 41 – 60 years old. Study found that the presence of stone in both kidneys is equal to 56.5%,the presence of cyst is equal to37.5% and the presence of mass 2.7% in all cases of present of mass, stone or cyst ,so from these percentages we can say that the main cause of loin pain was renal stone. The study concluded that the main signs of loin pain were back pain, burning micturation, fever and vomiting. Study recommended that ultrasound scanning should be done routinely for any patient complaining of loin pain for its cheep & safely modality.
