Exploring the Spread of Taboo Expressions in Sudanese Communities

Abstract

The study investigated the spread of taboo expressions among the Sudanese communities. The study's hypotheses are that members of Sudanese communities use taboo expressions in their speech and that taboo expressions affect the individuals' behavior and have negative impacts on communication. The populations of the study are under -graduate students at Sudan University of Science and Technology. The study is conducted via using the qualitative approach by using SPSS method of analysis. The study found that the Sudanese community teenagers use taboo expressions in their daily interaction, the majority of the community teenagers are spoilt in terms of behavior due to the insults and outcast words used among their groups. Finally, the study found that the spread of such taboo expression has something to do with cultural exchange. Thus, the researcher presented a number of recommendations as that teenagers should be enlightened with the dangers of using such taboo expressions and the parents should plant the seeds of morality upon their children to avoid their being spoilt in the future .

تقصت الدراسة إنتشار استخدام العبارات الغير مقبولة دينياً أو أخلاقياً بين أفراد المجتمع السوداني. افترضت الدراسة أن أفراد المجتمع السوداني يستخدم عبارات غير مقبولة دينياً أو أخلاقياً مما أدى إلى تأثير ذلك على أخلاقيات الافراد بصورة سلبية في عملية التواصل بينهم . أجرى الباحث الدراسة على طلاب وطالبات جامعة السودان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا. استخدم الباحث طريقة التحليل الوصفي لتحليل البيانات باستخدام التحليل الإحصائي. وأوجدت الدراسة أيضا أن استخدام العبارات الغير المقبولة دينياً أو أخلاقياً في عملية التواصل منتشرة بين اوساط المراهقين من افراد المجتمع ولها الأثر الأكبر في تدهور وبالتالي لها اثرها السلبي على افراد المجتمع السوداني عامة وأوجدت الدراسة أيضا أن انتشار هذه العبارات ناتج عن آثار ثقافية. لذلك قدم الباحث عددا من التوصيات أهمها توعية هولاء المراهقين من قبل الآباء والأمهات بخطورة استخدام هذه العبارات وغرس القيم الأخلاقية في الأبناء لتجنب إفسادها في المستقبل .
