Role of risk based thinking in ISO 9001: 2015 on risk reduction Case study (SAFAT aircraft manufacturing center)

Abstract

ISO 9001 is one of the standards that have dominated the interests of industrial and non-industrial organizations. The new version of 2015 is one of the most important changes in the standard, which clearly focused on risk assessment and evaluation. The aim of the study is to investigate the role of ISO 9001-2015in reducing risks. The quantitative methodology used and questionnaire of the study distributed to (50) Employees of SAFAT Aviation Company – Aircraft Manufacturing Center. The data was collected and analysed using statistical analysis software (SPSS) . The main result of the study is that,the analysis show astrong relationship between application of the ISO 9001 standard and risk reduction. Also it is clear that the role of appropriate awareness to obtain positive results. From the results and the data analysis, the researcher made some recommendations as: the need to raise the level of compliance with safety procedures and laws in organizations and to use knowledge, tools and documents correctly to avoid risk, also continuous awareness about the ISO 9001-2015 standard must be done for all levels of enterprise staff. Finally to remember that applying the tools and procedures of the system aim to advance the achievement of progress, not reduce it.
