Abstract:
The study was conducted in April 2017 in localities of Khartoum state .entitled Acomparison between traditional and modern nurseries. The sustainable production systems in traditional and modern nurseries; it shows which is the best for seedling production, quality and marketing. The designed questionnaire was for 5% random samples of the total certified nurseries and actors in the state and also; formal and informal meetings and interviews with stakeholders were conducted. The aim is to take technical and administrative information. The research was also based on observations by two surveys of irrigation methods and production of seedlings. Data were analyzed and tabulated using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 16 and the Contingency table X2. The study found that the best actual productivity of seedlings ranges between 3000-6000 seedlings per year characterized by modern nurseries from traditional ones; due to suitability of local climate and scientific structure. The study recommended that to encourage citizens transformational to establish modern nurseries to sustain production of seedlings quantitatively and qualitatively to fulfill the increasing demand.
