Abstract:
This was cross sectional study done in Modern Medical Center and Nelin Medical Center in Khartoum state in period from February to July 2018. The problem of this research was wide spread of lung disease among smokers and most of diagnostic tools not effective in diagnosis of this disease. The objective to study lung disease in smoker Sudanese using computed tomography and the CT protocol used is HRCT which use a narrow beam collimation to take thin slices images of the lung parenchyma of the patient.
The Data was collected by data collection sheet and analyzed by Excel and statistical Paclease for social sciences . The samples included 50 patients.
The most affected age groups were in the fourth and fifth decades of age (30.6% & 26.5%) respectively, with the highest category was employees. The study showed that the majority of the patients were presented with respiratory infection (93.9%) and all patients were presented with dyspnea and chest pain. The most pathological condition was chronic bronchitis (85.7%) followes by emphysema then lung cancer.
This study recommended that health care systems should raise the medical awareness about the risks of smoking, methods of cessation and the health effect issues to all Sudanese population generally and smokers specially
