Abstract:
Metabolic Syndrome is a serious medical condition with increased incidence of cardiovascular disease risk, has effects on the life quality, it is a problem found all over the world including Sudan and it is fatal unless controlled and treated properly.
This study was conducted to assess serum creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase enzymes levels in patients with metabolic syndrome. Hundred blood samples were collected during period from March to September 2018, 50 of them were chosen randomly from Zenam Diabetic Center, Sameer Diabetic Center and Shagra health center in Khartoum state and 50 apparently healthy individuals’ serves as control group, serum creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase enzymes levels in patients with metabolic syndrome and control were measure by enzymatic method (spectrophotometer) and results were analyzed using statistical package for social science computer program (SPSS version 20).
The study showed, increased mean of CKMB and LDH, WC and BMI for cases versus control :( 31.54±1.758 versus 15.68 ± 0.616 IU/L, p-values=0.000), (190.08±10.587 versus 101.70±2.965 IU/L, p-value= 0.000), (126.90±8.021 versus 73.68±1.271cm, p-value =0.000), (37.978±2.1143 versus 24.860±0.3195 kg/m2, p-value= 0.000) respectively.
The study showed that, metabolic syndrome most common among age between (42-85) years and most abundant in females (66%) than males (34%).
The study also showed there was significant positive correlation between LDH level and age in patients group; (r=0.378, P-value =0.007) and no correlation between the CKMB level and age (r= 0.024, p-value = 0.868)
The study also showed there were no correlation between CKMB level, BMI, WC and duration of metabolic syndrome (r=0.016, P-value0.911),
(r=0.074, P-value0.612) and(r=0.160, P= 0.268) respectively and LDH level, BMI, WC and duration of metabolic syndrome (r=0.204 p=0.156) (r=0.019 p=0.897) (r=0.153 p=0.293) respectively.
It is concluded that: the serum CKMB and LDH levels were significantly increased in metabolic syndrome patients
