dc.description.abstract This Thesis offer a solution by using a hydro ejector to draw leakage water from the turbine head cover (sump tank), which in case of dewatering/ leakage water pumps failure -due to any malfunction- the leak water increasing significantly and quickly and fill the turbine guide bearing oil pan. The aim of this Thesis is to design and manufacturing a model of Hydro ejector as a replacement for the pumps at Khash El-Girba Hydro Power Plant which always fail or in best case the power generated by the Kaplan turbine units has to be decreased to reduce the amount of leakage water. The methodology used in this Thesis is to calculate the dimension of the ejector according to exist data, leaked water to be drawn, available water to be used as (a motive) and suction and delivery heads then manufacturing the ejector locally at the mechanical workshop. Results obtained were designing and manufacturing of a Hydro ejector with the following specifications: motive pressure 3bar, with flow 3.15x10-3m3/s in motive line and pumping 1.2x10-3m3/s from suction line. The model has been tested and functioning very well with the maximum power load and didn’t showed any irregularities or disability. The analysis of the results was done; the recommendations for operation and maintenance were stated. en_US
