dc.description.abstract Metastatic disease of the chest is a common consideration in patients with known malignancy presenting with respiratory symptoms. While the diagnosis is often straightforward, clinical, radiographic, or bronchoscopic evidence of metastatic disease may be subtle or even absent in many instances This study aimed to assess the value of CT in diagnosis of lung metastasis and to investigate the incidence, appearance radiographic findings, of lung metastases. Material and methods This study was done in Khartoum state in Yastabsheroon Omdurman medical center and Khartoum radiological department Data was collected in the period from 30-12-2010 to 1-3-2011 This study include 50 patients males and female it wear selected randomly from CT and x-ray department the data include age , gender , CT finding , x-ray finding , treatments,………… Results Of this study the peak incidence was among the age between 61-70years of age presenting the percent of (36%), The majority of patients studied were from Khartoum state (36%),and Western Sudan, Central Sudan (10%), Northern Sudan (12%), Southern Sudan (2.0%) and Eastern Sudan (4%), Chest X-ray examination confirmed effusion in 20 patients (40%), hailer mass in 18 patients (36%), consolidation 2patients (4%), and others (1.0%) , CT chest examination confirmed effusion in 5 patients (10%), hailer mass in 7 patients (14%), lung mass 24patients (48%), ca bronchus 5patients (12%), and nodules 8patients (16%) , The areas of primary tumors were found as the followings lungs (22%), liver (16%) , breast (10%), ovary(6%), brain(8%), cervical(4%), lumber(4%), lymph node(4%), larynx(8%), colon(10%)and kidneys (8%) The common treatments used was radiotherapy (54%) and chemotherapy(46%), area of metastasis in the lungs Upper lobe (22%) middle( 56%) lower(10%) and hole lung(12%) Conclusion: CT was superior to chest radiography in the detection of metastasis of the lung This study demonstrates that CT method can be used to detect minar lung metastases quickly and reliably in radiology department . Uses of chest X-Ray and CT together could help to obtain accurate , demonstrate of any anatomical variation andresult in pathological changes. en_US
