dc.description.abstract This study was conducted in Nyala five IDP‘s camps, South Darfur State, Sudan. The significance of the study is to determine the impact of livelihoods strategies on the living situations of IDP‘s in South Darfur State. The study aimed to assess the living situation, and addressing the main factors of IDP's choice for staying or returning to origin home decisions. Case study methodology was taking in this study, the stratified sample was taken to representative the five camps in the study, and the sample on each camp took randomly according to the study population homogeneity at these camps. 384 units were selected as study sample from the population. The questionnaire, interview and direct observation are considered as primary data collection techniques used in this study. The study outlined many findings such as: The results show 58% of respondents are male. The majority of respondents about 73.8% were in the middle age, ranged between 18 – 40 years. The majority of respondents by 68% are living in protracted displacement, the displacement duration more than 10 years. The majority of respondents by 71.4% had a job. The majority of them did not receive any remittances outside camps by 77.3%. The majority of respondents by 95.3% received the relief aids from aids providers. There is social support presented to majority of IDP‘s by 56.2%. The majority of respondents receive basic services inside camp by 93.0%. The majority of respondents by 52.3% prefer return back to original home with improving well-being assets, 20.6% of respondents express that they preferred to stay at the current place with basic service provision, 11.7% of them indicated that settlement in other new place with service provision. The study test hypothesis such as: there is significant relationship between personal characteristics and IDP's livelihood activities. IDP's Living situation has effects on Staying and returning Decision making process. The study recommends that: Local government must improve the quality of life for IDP‘s at camp level by insure all basic needs and insure effectively delivered. Local leaders must support the services providers to deliver good assistance x for IDP‘s at camp. International agencies, must working to improve the livelihood opportunity for IDP‘s to secure the livelihood assets. Enhance the capability and self-capacity of IDP‘s leaders to a raise the awareness among camp community. en_US
