Abstract:
This work reports obtaining of useful and highly value material from wheat bran and sorghum bran .For this purpose , samples were burned for 30s using Nd :YAG laser with output power 60 Watt. The products after burning process and non-burned samples were characterized by x-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) so as to investigate its structure and chemical components, x-ray fluorescence (XRF) for analysis the elements and determination of silica contents. XRD results of the wheat bran before burned process revealed amorphous silica. Cubic phase. of silicon carbide and rhombohedral phase of carbon. The obtained result showed that burning process using Nd:YAG laser can convert the cubic phase of silicon carbide into hexagonal and rhombohedral phase and convert rhomohedral phase of carbon into hexagonal phase ; also it revealed a monoclinic phase of silica after burning . XRD results of the sorghum before burning process showed also amorphous Silica, The obtained results showed that burning process using Nd:YAG laser cased in appearing of crystalline hexagonal phase for silica and rhombohedral phase of carbon.FTIR showed a number of absorbance peaks assigned to silica and silicon carbide.
XRF results of sorghum before and after burning process appearing elements (Fe, Cr, Ni, Zn, Pb, Mn). and determination of silica contents Showed increased silica with time.
