Abstract:
The aim of this study was to identify the factors that affect the continuity of
success in the application of local accreditation standards in Qassim- Saudi
Aarabia (Central Board of Accreditation for health institutes CBAHI) in
addition to identifying the knowledge of the hospital staff of these standards
and the degree of their commitment and continuity in their application.
The problem of the study is to answer the following main questions:
What are the factors that influencing the continuation of success of CBAHI in
Qassim regional hospitals?
The study was based on descriptive methodology and a simple random
sample. 620 single members were enrolled in the study society; they represent
all employees of the accredited governmental health sector hospitals in
Qassim region for the year 2017/2016 (82.3%).
The results of the study showed that the success factors in the average depend
on the knowledge of the employees, where they reached a mean of 4.48, the
commitment of the hospital which reach a mean of 4.29 and the commitment
of the staff which reached a mean of 4.15, and the scope of the staff attitudes
which reach a mean of 3.98.
These results generally referred to the factors of continuity of success, which
were adopted by the sample individuals at an average of 4.25.
The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the
factors affecting the continuity of success in applying the local accreditation
criteria after continuous improvement. However, this relationship was
partially supported. There is a positive relationship between employee
knowledge, hospital commitment, employee attitudes and the program
implementation criteria. The results showed moral positive relationship
between the commitment of employees and after continuous improvement. The results of this study were considered as a conclusion of the continued
success of the program, which the researchers failed to explore. The
knowledge of employees came as the most important dimension that drives
users to continue to succeed in the application of the program where the
knowledge of employees was regarded as the internal work motivation.
Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations were
reached:
- Conduct further studies on the continuity of the application of accreditation
criteria to include broader dimensions than the dimensions dealt with in the
current study.
- To be aware of the importance of its application to provide a basis for the
management of TQM in hospitals.
- Increase the attention to the human element in hospitals and to pay their
attention to the utmost importance of their training on the standards of local
accreditation.
- The CBAHI program which was applied in hospitals related to the study at a
higher level requires the departments to strengthen those concepts and try to
consolidate them significantly in the service providers at hospitals.
- The need to promote capacity building programs relevant to the international
accreditation concept and their input toward the improvement project of the
hospitals concerned with the study.
