dc.description.abstract This was a descriptive study; the main objective of this study was to study of pulmonary embolism by using computed tomography angiography types, site and affected group of age. The study was carried out at the Modern Medical Center and Dar Alelaj Specialized Hospital during the period from November 2017 to January 2018, and the data were collected from these two hospitals. for CT machine used 64-slice scanner (PHILIPS) and 64-slice scanner (GM-Optima, Health Care). This study included random fifty patients 9 males and 41 females with clinically diagnosed of pulmonary embolism. The study has come out with many results including that the pulmonary embolism is higher in female (82%) than in male (18%). The most effected age group were the ages between (60-70) years and pulmonary embolism most commonly seen in the both side of pulmonary artery (78%) , right side (16%) and left side (6%) . According to this result PE is rare in young patients and is more common in elder patients . The results also showed that CT is the best modality to identifying and localizing pulmonary embolism . It concluded that CTPA is a technical improvement of helical CT and a diagnostic tool with a high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of PE. It recommended that Spiral CT technique should be the primary investigation performed for patient who suspected to have PE. en_US
