dc.description.abstract Trying to solve the coexistence problem between the IEEE 802.11af and IEEE 802.22 networks in the TV white space (TVWS). These two standards are heterogeneous in power level and PHY/MAC design, making their coexistence challenging. The main focus is to design a co-channel coexistence scheme for the IEEE 802.22 customer premises equipment (CPE) as well as IEEE 802.11af system. The challenges are identified to enable the co-channel coexistence of IEEE802.22 and the IEEE802.11af system. Then an algorithm is proposed for coexistence, depending on busy tone frame work. A busytone algorithm will be designed for the IEEE 802.22 CPEs to exclude the hidden IEEE 802.11af terminals. Also show that it is possible for the IEEE 802.11af systems to identify the exposed IEEE 802.22 CPE transmitters and conduct successful transmissions under interference. This work will be done through simulation using MATLAB. The throughput and spectral efficiency of IEEE802.11af and IEEE 802.22 can be increased with the proposed co-channel coexistence scheme. Also a new algorithm will be proposed to enhance the spectral efficiency and throughput for IEEE 802.11af up to 40% and for IEEE 802.22 up to 14.5%. This algorithm called busy tone controller which is based on calculating the effective load for both networks and checking if possible to send over the same channel or not. en_US
