dc.description.abstract This paper aimed at investigating the role of discourse markers in enhancing EFL learners’ listening comprehension in academic lectures. A case study conducted on Sudanese universities teachers. The researchers adopted the descriptive analytic method; a questionnaire has used as the main tool for data collection. The data has been analyzed by using (SPSS) program. The study sample comprises (50) teachers of English language in different Sudanese Universities. The study has arrived at a number of findings, among them; Discourse markers play an effective role in enhancing listening comprehension of academic lectures in EFL classes. Moreover, the researcher has recommended that, EFL learners have to be aware of the significant values of discourse markers as effective discourse genre in academic listening comprehension. Finally, the researcher suggested for further studies that includes; Teaching discourse markers at earlier stages to EFL learners en_US
