dc.description.abstract Metabolic Syndrome is a serious medical condition with increase incidence of multiple cancers risk , has effects on the life quality. and it is a problem found all over the world and Sudan. and it is fatal unless controlled and treated properly. This study was conducted to assess serum alanine aminotransferase enzyme and triglycerides levels in patients with metabolic syndrome. Hundred blood samples (50 controls and 50 cases) were collected during period from January to February 2017, chosen randomly from Mohamed Ali Altom Diabetic Center and Alzeber Musa Diabetic Center in Khartoum state, and 50 apparently healthy individuals serves as control group to assess serum alanine aminotransferase enzyme and triglycerides levels in patients with metabolic syndrome. Enzymatic method used to estimate serum ALT and TGs levels, and BiosystemA 25 (full automation instrument), and results were analyzed using statistical package for social science (SPSS version 20) computer program. The study showed that, increased Mean of ALT, TGs, WC and BMI for cases versus control :( 31.54±1.758 versus 15.68 ± 0.616 IU/L, p-values=0.000), (190.08±10.587 versus 101.70±2.965 mg/dl, p-value= 0.000), (126.90±8.021 versus 73.68±1.271cm, p-value =0.000), (37.978±2.1143 versus 24.860±0.3195 kg/m2, p-value= 0.000). respectively. The study showed that metabolic syndrome most common among age between (30-55) years (65%) and most abundant in females (68%) than males (32%). The study also showed there was significant positive correlation between ALT level and WC, BMI duration and age of metabolic syndrome in patients group; (r=0.490, P-value =0.000), (r=0.518, P-value =0.000) and(r=0.501, P-value =0.000),(r=0.308, p-value=0.002) respectively. The study also showed there was significant positive correlation between TGs level and WC, BMI and duration of metabolic syndrome in patients group: (r=0.667, P-value0.000), (r=0.598, P-value0.000) and(r=0.373, P-value0.000) respectively. Also the study showed there was a negative correlation between TGs level and age of metabolic syndrome patients group : (r=0.178, P-value0.076). It is concluded that: the serum ALT and TGs levels were significantly increased in metabolic syndrome patients, also there were correlation between ALT and TGs levels. en_US
