Abstract:
In this study, the fixed oil of Jasminum humile was extracted from seeds.
The oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and 20 component were identified Major constituent were: 9-Z-Octadecenoic acid methyl ester(30.19%%) , 9,12-Z,Z-Octadecadienoic acid methyl ester (23.96%) , Hexadecanoic acid methyl ester(15.853%) , Methyl stearate(13.22%) .
The oil was screened for antimicrobial activities using five stander bacterial strains. The cup plate agar diffusion technique was used to assess the antimicrobial activity of the oil against (Bacillus subtilis and
Staphylococcus aureus- Gram positive ; Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa- Gram negative bacteria and the fungal species Candida albinos. The results indelicate that Jasminum humile fixed oil contains bioactive constituents having significant antimicrobial properties.
