dc.description.abstract The role of ultrasound in diagnosis of intrauterine growth restriction include identification of fetuses below 10th percentile of estimated(or actual) fetal weight and distinction in three recognised groups (constitional small, hypoplastic, hypotrophic and combined group) There is no research has been done in this subject in Depalpur District Okara at any level to best of my knowledge. 7 The object of this research to differentiate among constitional small fetuses from hypoplastic, hypotrophic and combined IUGR and to helps early treatment and decide the time of obstetrical intervention to salvage life of fetus. -This prospective study which carried out on 100 pregnant women of various gestational age between 28 weeks to fulterm pregnancies in depalpur out of 100 pregnant women of gestational age 28 –37 weeks 11 fetuses were found to be intrauterine growth restriction(11%) Total No of patients seen 100 Total No of normal cases 89 Total IUGR fetuses out of 100 11 Hypoplastic IUGR 1 (1%) Hypotrophic IUGR 7 (7%) Combined 3 (3%) IUGR The commonest type of intrauterine growth restriction is hypotrophic (asymmetrical) due to uteroplacental insufficiency which is quite high rate than 3% in developed countries due to multiple pregnancies and substandard mother diet and poor antenatal care. -Out of this study we believe ultrasound most quick and efficient diagnostic modality in detection of intrauterine growth restriction compared to other investigations owing to safety and availability. en_US
