dc.description.abstract This study aimed at investigating the problematic areas of Sudanese secondary schools learners’ deficiency of spaking skills in English language among Sudanese secondry school students. The researcher hypothesizes that, the students face difficulties to speak English language fluently although, they spend about six years studying English language .The objective of this study is to investigate this problem to find out the appropriate solutions for it. The researcher adapted a questionnaire for both teachers and learners as a tool for data collection. Twenty five teachers and one hundred male and female students from El- Managil Locality participated in this study. The findings of this study showed that: - Secondary school teachers concentrate on building up learners’ vocabulary and understanding grammatical rules more than engaging them in communicative activities. Lack of using educational techniques is one of the reasons behind students’ speaking skills deficiency. Speaking and listening skills are neglected by teachers. Most of the teaching activities are of the traditional modes such as: reading dialogues, reciting texts and doing translation. Finally, the researcher recommends that: - Teachers should be very keen about teaching English in general and developing speaking skills in particular. Schools should be provided with Language Labs or at least with some educational techniques. Introducing classroom communicative activities in good and interesting manners. Teachers should have attention to the success of the interaction and adjusting components of speech such as, vocabulary, rate of speech and complexity of grammar structure to maximize students’ understanding and awareness. en_US
