dc.description.abstract When using CT in assessment of hydrocephalus affected different ages from one-day to 75 years, the determining factor for or against the implantation of a shunt is the degree of ventricular dilatation. The researcher has devised a standardized method of estimating this, the use of which has been shown to achieve consistently successful results. Dilatation was determined using the ventricular ratio from the axial CT scan at the mid-portion of the bodies of the lateral ventricles, showing the greatest ventricular dilatation. According to this method, it was shown that some cases of congenital hydrocephalus the cause remains unknown in this study, stage of fourth ventricles shows the high percent was 56% for the people that are not dilated, while stage of Third ventricle shows the high percent was (88%) for the people that are dilated. It was, as well, shown that type of hydrocephalus among population of the study was equal 50% for the communication and 50% for the non communication. It’s recommended that for unknown cause of hydrocephalus there should be further imaging investigations such as MRI and CT clinics especially in hospitals where this study carried out. In conclusion, some cases of congenital hydrocephalus the cause remains unknown in this study. en_US
