Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of applying
aspects of connected speech in the spoken language of the MA
students at Sudan University of Science and Technology. The
Descriptive analytical approach has been adopted. A sample of
50 students from the Department of English language, College
of Graduate Studies, SUST, batches 6, 7 and 8, has been chosen
randomly to test their ability to apply aspects of connected
speech in their spoken language. An oral test has been
administrated to collect the research data. The findings have
revealed that MA students lack sufficient knowledge of thefeatures of connected speech. Moreover, they do not use these
aspects in their spoken English language. The standard of the
students is below the average level. The researcher
recommended that a priority should be given to teaching ACS,
and emphasized the importance of practice. Also, the researcher
suggested that further studies and researches should be carried
out with in the same area.
