Abstract:
Thermocouples plays an important role in generating electric energy. This needs intensive research Thermocouples material affect its performance. The research the methodology is based on experimental work which shows material factors affecting performance then comparing results with previous studies or explaining in on theoretical basis.
In this thesis three different types of thermoelectric devices has been prepared in order to study Seebec effect in material and it is relation with Fermi level, their efficiency and their performance relies primarily on material selection.
Junctions for Seebec effect were made for different material Al-Fe, Fe-Cu and Al-Cu one end was placed at room temperature while the other end was placed at hot sand using thermometer to study variation of temperature and record the EMF that results to investigate the effect of temperature raise EMF.
The result obtained shows that the generated electromotive force is strongly dependent in the location of elements in electrochemical series. Thus one can conclude that the performance of thermocouples is affected by the location of metal contacts in electrochemical series.
