Abstract:
The aim of this study is to find the major causes of difficulties in the configurational comprehension
understanding of written argumentative texts in French as foreign language confronted by Sudanese
University students in level Four. For this purpose of the study, the researcher chose the experimental
method for collecting the relevant data. The experiment was inspired form the approach of J.M. Adam
(1990: 21) and based mainly on our hypothesis. The data analysis with the (T-test) for two samples has
showed statistic differences revealing performance improvement in favor of the experimental group
confirming the hypothesis mentioned previously. On the basis of these results, the researcher proposed
recommendations which are expected to contribute to solving the problems and difficulties associated
with configurational comprehension understanding of written argumentative texts in French.
