dc.description.abstract This study comprises the synthesis and spectral properties of three chalcones 3-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)-1-phenyl-(2E)-propen-1-one (DMAPPP),1-(4-methylphenyl)-3-(4- N, N-dimethyl amino phenyl)-2-propen-1-one (MDMAPP) and 1-(4-chloridephenyl)-3-(4- N, N dimethyl amino phenyl)-2-propen-1-one (CPDAPP) in several organic solvents have been studied. Photophysical characteristics such as absorption, fluorescence spectra, stokes' shift, fluorescence and quantum yield of these chalcones were measured in different solvents and concentrations. The amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) performance of these dyes under various concentrations, organic solvents and pump pulse energies of Nd: YAG lasers (355nm) were investigated. The gain and the effect of concentration and pump power energies of these chalcones were obtained. The most important features are chalcone has an excellent photochemical stability the ASE emission from the chalcone is tunable in the wavelength region between 535 and 570nm. en_US
