Abstract:
The fixed oil of Rumexacetosa was extracted by maceration. GC-MS analysis was conducted. Major constituents are :
9-octadecanoic acid methyl Ester (38.41%) , Ethyl oleate ( 21.16%) , Hexadecanoic 1,2,3-propane-triyl ester (6.41%) , 9,12-octadecanoic acid methyl ester (4.28%).
The oil was assessed for antimicrobial potency via cup plate agar diffusion bioassay against a panel of bacterial isolates. The oil showed significant activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosaand good activity against Escherichia coli. However it was partially active against staphylococcusaureus and fungus candida albicans.
