Implementing a Knowledge Management Framework for Enhancing the Academic Performance of Universities

Abstract

Tacit knowledge represents a major challenge in the retrieval and storage. Implementation of knowledge management system (KMS) in university sector in order to make this knowledge available in a shared knowledge base is very important for enhancing the academic performance and achieve competitive advantage. In these research a model for the requirement of successful implementation of KM project in the university sector is proposed. The researcher presented a framework for KM implementation in the university sector in order to reduce the time, effort, and cost. In addition to guidelines for avoiding the errors and present a road map to achieve successful KM implementation. The researcher implement knowledge portal with Mediawiki software as knowledge management system in the Nile Valley University, and discuss steps of KM everyday processes with using knowledge portal. The survey was conducted on Nile Valley University with random sample consisted of (75) academic staff and students. The results of testing hypothesis have proved that using knowledge portal positively and significantly affects on facilitating knowledge management processes. Also implementing knowledge management system positively and significantly affects on university academic performance.
