This study was conducted during the winter of 2008 to
investigate the effect of seradix3 hormone on the vegetative
growth of lime stem cuttings. Three types of lime stem cuttings
were used: basal cuttings, medium cuttings and terminal cuttings,
whereas three concentration levels of hormone plus the control
have been used in the treatment of the cuttings. These were pure
hormone, 15 gm hormone +15 gm baby powder (1:1), 15g
hormone +30g baby powder (1:2) and untreated control. Three
readings had been taken for the parameters: Root%, number of
roots, length of roots, percentage of shoots, no of shoots and no of
leaves. In the first reading after 23 days from planting, the results
showed no rooting. The percentage of shoots the basal cutting
treated with pure gave highest shoots% followed by medium
treated with 1:1, while the lowest basal treated with 1:1 and basal
untreated. The highest number of shoots was obtained from the
basal cuttings treated with pure seradix3 powder, followed by
medium cuttings untreated, while the lowest number of shoots was
obtained from the basal cuttings with untreated. The highest
number of leaves was obtained from the basal cuttings treated with
pure seradix3 powder, followed by the untreated basal cuttings
while the lowest number of leaves was obtained from the medium
cuttings treated with 1:1 (seradix3: baby powder). Also no rooting
VII
(after 30days from planting), The percentage of shoots the basal
cutting treated with pure gave highest shoots% followed by basal
treated with (1:1, 1:2), while the lowest medium treated with 1:1
the highest number of leaves was obtained from the medium
cuttings treated with 1:1 (seradix3: baby powder), followed with
the basal cutting treated with pure seradix3 powder. The number
of shoots, the basal cuttings treated with pure seradix3 powder
gave the highest number of shoots followed with the medium
cuttings treated with the 1:1 (seradix3 powder: baby powder) while
the lowest number of shoots was obtained from the basal cuttings
treated with 1:1 (seradix3 powder: baby powder). The highest
number of leaves was obtained from the medium cuttings treated
with 1:1 (seradix3 powder: baby powder), followed by the basal
cutting treated while pure seradix3 hormone, lowest number of
leaves was obtained from the basal cutting treated with 1:1
seradix3: baby powder. In the 3 rd reading (after two months from
planting), the highest percentage of rooting was obtained from the
basal cuttings untreated, followed by basal cutting treated with
pure seradix3 hormone, while the lowest percentage of rooting was
obtained from the medium cuttings treated 1:1(seradix3: baby
powder). The highest number of roots was obtained from basal
cuttings untreated, followed by medium cuttings treated
1:1(seradix3: baby powder), while the lowest no. of roots was
obtained from the basal cuttings treated 1:1(seradix3: baby
powder). The longest roots were obtained from untreated basal
cuttings, followed by basal cuttings treated with 1:1(seradix3: baby
powder), while the shortest roots were obtained from the basal
cuttings treated with pure hormone. The percentage of shoots the
basal cutting treated with pure seradix3 gave highest shoots%
followed by basal untreated while the lowest basal treated with 1:1.
The number of shoots the basal untreated cuttings gave the highest
number followed by the medium cuttings treated with 1:1
(seradix3: baby powder), while the lowest number of shoots was
obtained from the basal cuttings treated with 1:2 (seradix3: baby
powder). The highest number of leaves was obtained from the basal
VIII
cutting treated with 1:2 (seradix3: baby powder), followed by
medium cuttings treated with 1:1 (seradix3: baby powder) while
the lowest number of leaves was obtained from the basal cuttings
treated with pure sreadix3. |
