Abstract:
In this research project we studied the theory of Fermi and the standard model of particle physics in some details. We calculated via a theoretically the cross-section of the elastic neutrinoβmuon and electron scattering in the Fermi theory and the standard model and found their values at 𝐸=4 𝑀𝑒𝑉 to be 𝝈𝑺𝑴=𝟓.𝟐𝟖Γ𝟏𝟎β𝟒𝟒𝒄𝒎𝟐 𝝈𝑭𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊=𝟖.𝟔𝟏Γ𝟏𝟎β𝟒𝟑𝒄𝒎𝟐
We have found that the cross-section in SM less than the cross-section in Fermi for a given energy. Furthermore, the Fermi theory breaks down at high energy but the standard model works very well at high energies.
