dc.description.abstract The processing of X- ray film is the second step after the exposure of the X- ray film to produce permanent image. The aims of this study is to evaluate manual and automatic film processing in Khartoum state hospitals, to show the benefits of using automatic processor and it is use in these hospitals. The area of study is in the X- ray departments in many hospitals: Khartoum Teaching Hospital, Khartoum North Teaching Hospital, Omdurman Teaching Hospital, Ibn Sina Specialist Hospital, Jafar Ibnoaf Hospital, Modren Medical Center, Advance Diagnostic Center, Elfaisal Hospital, Fedeel Hospital, Elrebat Teaching Hospital and Elturki Hospital. In a period of six months. For data collection the researcher used questionnaire which consist of two sections: one for hospitals which are using manual processor and other for hospitals which are using automatic processor and also used his own observations. For data analysis the researcher used statistically table and percentage graph. The main results of this study is that the automatic processors is not widely used in Khartoum State hospitals due to economical reasons 98% but (III) when the researcher look at their benefits rather than the economical reasons the manual processors which are adopted in most hospitals are not performing standard processing. The conclusion of this study is that the automatic processor decrease the workload of technologist, patient dose, the number of dark room technologist and increase work flow. And the manual processor increase number of reject films, patient wait and decrease image quality when you don't follow the standard processor. en_US
