Abstract:
An analytical study conducted during the
period from March to July 2012, compared plasma
levels of urea, creatinine, uric acid and albumin of
80 apparently healthy pregnant women (as a test
group) and 40 apparently healthy (non-pregnant)
volunteers (as a control group), to find if there is
any changes in the plasma levels of urea,
creatinine, uric acid and albumin in apparently
healthy Sudanese women during pregnancy. All
participants in this study were from Khartoum state
(The test group and the control group were
matched for age). The plasma levels of urea,
creatinine, uric acid and albumin were measured
using a colorimeter and commercial kits from
CRESCENT, VITRO and SPINREACT Companies.
The means of the plasma levels of urea and
creatinine were found to be significantly reduced in
the test group in all trimesters when compared to
the control group while albumin and uric acid has
insignificant reduced from control group.
The plasma levels of urea, Creatinine, uric acid
and albumin have no correlation with the duration
of pregnancy.
,In conclusion, the plasma levels of urea
Creatinine, uric acid and albumin are reduced
during pregnancy. Plasma urea, creatinine, uric
acid and albumin have no correlation with the
.duration of pregnancy
