Abstract:
The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness ,efficacy and the
postoperative outcome of three methods used in the removal of Acrochordons ,
these are the electrocautery, the Fibertom mode of Nd-yag laser and the
standard mode of Nd-yag laser
Electrocautery is the old traditional method used in the removal of many
dermatological overgowthes . The method of removal is burning by high
temperature and coagulation, the hyfrecator device was used for this purpose.
The Fibertom mode was used for cutting with high power .The standard
mode was used to coagulate the lesions which will eventually fall off.
Fifteen patients were enrolled in this study, five patients for each method
The results showed that the post operative outcome was excellent with the three
methods used ,only slight differences were detected in healing time , infection
and hyperpigmentation .these differences were statistically insignificant when
tested by the P value.
So ,electrocautary is to be considered first line of removal of
Acrochordons s especially if the lesions are located near the eyes. Otherwise
patient choice should be respected
