Abstract:
Steady state instabilities cause problems in electrical power system all over the world. Most of the time potential instabilities are undetected by planning and operational engineering studies, until some particular condition develops and creates a problem. One of steady state instabilities problem is inter area oscillation which appear between two or more area. The other problem appears when connects between two areas, how to control the tie line power flow within operating criteria and reliable condition.
This thesis presents a comprehensive approach to evaluate tie line operation control and stiffness for Sudan and Ethiopia network. A data bank for study has been constructed. This has been used to monitoring the deviation from the acceptable limit in the frequency and area control error. Also this data construct Ybus for Sudan and Ethiopia networks to calculate the maximum power which transfer between two areas to identify tie line stiffness.
