Influence of Planning Process in the Execution of Construction Project in Sudan

Abstract

This study intends to explore the use of planning and planning techniques in construction projects in Sudan. These projects are considered to have a strong effect on the Gross Domestic Product of the country, which is perceived as the most important process throughout the project lifecycle. The research concentrate on the said process regarding it is effort on the construction process. As the theoretical part, a literature review was presented, concerning the concepts of planning in the construction industry and the historical development of network planning techniques. Many references were addressed. The practical part consists of a scientific formed questionnaire, which was adopted as a research tool. Data was collected, analyzed and interpreted. It is found that planning process is confronted by many problems during implementation phase; lack of educational background, lack of management experience, shortage of resources, and methods of construction used the collected data and was analyzed by using computers software such as: Primavera P6. Finally, as a result of all the above steps, the overall conclusion will visualize and define the process of planning in the light of the local practice and identify the shortcoming that arises in the local methods, used in construction projects.
