Abstract:
In many industries (such as pharmaceuticals, beverage industries, etc.), bottles are required to be filled up with a pre-determined amount of liquid. Implementing these systems manually or using timing to fill these bottles may cause inaccurate filling volume. Also using relay logic control systems can make the system very hard to monitor or simply the system can’t be monitored. Not only but also, modifying the behavior of these systems may only be achieved through modifying the connections of the hardwired relays. PLC systems are more flexible systems in automating various processes, since the behavior of the system can be changed without changing the electrical connections of the system, as well as being able to monitor the system undergoing its operation. In this project, an overflow filler model –filling to certain height – has been controlled using the simatic S7-1200 PLC and monitored through a wireless network to a computer based HMI in the TIA portal software. Also the filling phases of modern carbonated beverages had been explored through-out the project
