dc.description.abstract Extraction of the Raphanus sativus seeds oil was carried out using Soxhlet extractor. The oil percentage in the sample was found to be (33.4%) by weight. The GC-MS analysis showed nine (9) major components: palmatic acid (5.52%), Oleic acid (25.22%), linoleic acid (12.01%), 11-eicosenoic acid (10.66%), eicosanoic acid (1.90%), erucia acid (32.79%), heneicosanoic acid (2.68%), nervonic acid (2.91%) and tetracosanoic acid (1.84%). The pharmaceutical uses and health effects of these major constituents were stated. The physicochemical tests of the oil showed that: the refractive index (1.4580), density (0.685 mg/ml), viscosity (5.01 m Pa.s), saponification value (152.899 mg/g), acid value (3.647 mg/g), Peroxide value (5 m/kg), Iodine value (63.45 g/100 g), Ester value (149.252 mg/g). en_US
