Abstract:
An experiment was carried out at Shambat Agricultural Farm, College
of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology
on December 2014 for one season to study the impact of Folimat and
Icarose pesticides on soil and garden rocket growth. Both pesticides
were added at concentration of 1.92kg/ha (recommended dose) and
2.88kg/ha (excessive dose) for Folimat and for Icarose 249.2ml/ha
(recommended dose) and 371.8ml/ha (excessive dose) in addition to
control to evaluate their effect on plant and soil. Measurements taken
were plant height, leaf area and fresh and dry weight.
pH, total nitrogen %, phosphorous (ppm), soluble cations, Ca+, Mg++,
K+ (Mg/L), soluble anions CO3, HCO3, Cl, CaCO3 (Mg/L) electrical
conductivity of the saturation extract ECe ds/m. The two pesticides
were applied one month after planting.
The results revealed that both chemicals affected positively garden
rocket vegetative growth at the recommended dose but negatively at
the excessive dose. Both pesticides reduced some measured soil
characteristics.
