Abstract:
Pelvic pain may be the manifestation of various gynecologic and non-gynecologic disorders in female. From less alarming rupture of the follicular cyst to life threatening conditions such as perforation of inflamed appendix. The purpose of this study to determine differential diagnosis for pelvic pain into gynecologic and non-gynecologic etiology, by using ultrasound GE and Siemens (acuson 500) in Kalba hospital in UAE.
The study found that most of pelvic pain are found in married 38 patients percentage (76%) and single are 12 patients percentage (24%).
Most of pelvic pain are gynecological 28 patients percentage (56%), and most of gynecological is ovarian cyst (32%).
Others pelvic pain subdivided into gastrointestinal and Appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency (28%) and should always be considered in differential diagnosis if appendix has not been removed. Apart of -clinical examination and laboratory tests, an ultrasound examination is highly sensitive if graded compression technique is used.
This study conclude that Ultrasound is best and first modalities used in diagnosis of pelvic pain.
