Abstract:
In fact diabetic is the most common cause for renal failure. The purpose of the study is to characterize diabetic patient kidneys using ultrasound.
The study were done for 50 diabetic patient ( 30 male and 20 female ) all of them have diabetic mellitus type2, their age between 45-55 year were included, and the patient with renal congenital anomalies, renal tract obstruction , malignant tumor and renal failure were excluded.
In this study ultrasound was performed for all patients by measuring the size of the kidney and evaluated the Echogensity of the right kidney compared with liver Echogensity, while the Echogensity of left kidney is compared with Echogensity of the spleen and corticomedullary ratio is also measured. The ultrasound scan is done by using TA curve linear transducer 3.5 MHZ.
The value of the study characterize that there is decrease in kidney length , decrease in C/M ratio and no deference in Echogensity.
