Abstract:
The Long Term Evolution (LTE) of the Third Generation Partnership project (3GPP) has recently been investigating new deployment options to deal with sudden increase in demand for mobile broadband services. These strategies are being included in the already frozen Release 10 and in the almost finished Release 11.
The concept of heterogeneous networks has recently attracted considerable interest as a way to optimize the performance of the network, particularly for unequal user or traffic distribution situations. Manage the interferences caused by the macro station to the low power nodes and vice versa is one of the biggest challenges in the deployment of heterogeneous networks.
Coordinated multi-point (CoMP) schemes have been proposed to deal with this problem in LTE-A.
In this thesis an implementation of the technology CoMP have been proposed to target the performance of 4G networks. This has been implemented in a macro cell network. This coordination improves the quality of the received signal and also increases the capacity of each user thus increasing the capacity of the entire system.
