Abstract:
This study was descriptive and analytical study, conducted in Khartoum state during the period from May 2013 to March 2014 in Dr. Elsir Fertility Center, Khartoum state, Sudan. The aim, was to determine the prevalence of Antiphospholipid Syndrome, lupus anticoagulant, prothrombin (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin (APTT) in Sudanese women with recurrent Miscarriages. A total of hundred women with two or more recurrent miscarriages blood Samples in addition to 50 healthy non pregnant women were involved in this study. The age was ranging between 20-40 years, with mean age of 30 years. Patient with history with known cause for miscarriages were excluded from this study. Patient and control were tested for Antiphospholipid antibodies IgG by ELISA, lupus anticoagulant by screening test of activated partial thromboplastin time and correction of it, Prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time by using coagulometer Biobas 10.The results were analyzed by using program SPSS version 20. Results showed that the means of APA for patients was 4.36+_6.53 and 2.12_+1.44 for control (P-value 0.003). Mean of APTT for patients was 34.0_+8.16 and 29.1_+3.27 for control, (P-value 0.000) and Mean of PT test 12.7_+2.47 for patients and 11.9_+0.95 for control and (P-value 0.017) and its clinical significant. The study found 12% of prolonged APTT have inhibitor mainly like LA. The study found that women with RM who treated with heparin and aspirin have increased rate of live birth.
The study concluded that the presence of aniphopholipid antibody and LA were significantly associated with recurrent miscarriage and the activated partial thromboplastin time is more sensitive than prothrombin time in the presence of lupus anticoagulant.
The results of the previous study were compatible with these study in similar worlds conducted on countries other than Sudan.
