The method used for this study was a questionnaire and the participants who had been chosen were two hundred English language teachers. They were requested to give their views on sixteen items of the questionnaire. The following statistical instruments are used for analyzing the collected data (graphical figures, frequency distribution, person correlation co-efficient, median and non=parametric chi-square test). In order to obtain accurate results, statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used. The results of the study showed that over seventy five percent of the teachers’ views ranged between (strongly agree / agree ) and less than twenty five percent ranged between (undecided, disagree and strongly disagree). Even in figures, the response answers showed that two thousands, five hundred and forty views ranged between (strongly agree / agree). All the findings in the tables confirmed the importance and the effective role of technology in promoting the oral communication side in secondary schools. The most important findings are technological aids can improve learners’ skills and make school fun. Learners can learn good pronunciation through the computer besides improving their vocabulary.

The objective of the present paper is to introduce the concept of linguistic mediation as one of the activities which must be developed by the foreign language’s learner. The common European reference frame for languages (cadre européen commun de référence pour les langues) has made brief presentations of this concept. The importance of this study is that it introduces the linguistic mediation as a new approach to use translation in the foreign language class. It also wide opens the doors to rethink translation as a natural skill that should be taken care of and developed by learners of foreign language, in the same way as other skills of writing, speaking, or writing and oral understanding. This paper is also motivated by the fact that it suggests practical modalities to use translation and linguistic mediation in the foreign language teaching without prejudice to the bases of the communicative approach, which is commonly used in foreign languages teaching and learning. Three points can summarize the objectives of this study: the first point urges to rethink the reluctance towards using translation in the foreign language class. The second point tries to introduce linguistic mediation as a concept that promotes the use of translation, and the third point proposes models to use linguistic mediation through translation in the foreign language class.

Faris , Sabah Mohamed Abbas Hamza; Ahmed , Mahmoud Ali
This study investigates the effects of cooperative learning in developing writing skill of the learners of English as a foreign Language (EFL) and their attitudes towards learning the English language using cooperative learning. The subjects of the study were 80 pupils representing the experimental group and another 80 pupils as a control group in Saudi Arabia intermediate school for girls. Pre and post tests were conducted to both groups. Teachers also responded to questionnaire to investigate their attitudes towards teaching English Language and specially using cooperative learning to develop writing skills. The results of the study showed that the pupils in the experimental group outperformed themselves significantly. The mean of stats score at( (post-test ) was (43.22) and the mean score at (pre -test) was (39.42) therefore we can conclude that there was significant decrease of statistics test from (post -test) to(pre-test) with (P-value 0.000) in the post experimental written test compared to their performance in the pre-experimental test. The results of the teachers’ questionnaire also revealed that the pupils developed better attitudes towards learning English using cooperative learning strategy, specially, to develop their writing skills. Therefore, it could be recommended to adopt cooperative learning in EFL classrooms to include other language skills as well as grammar. It is also recommended that further studies could be undertaken out with larger groups of learners.

ESP is wide field. It provides academic services for the learners in differences specialization. This research is intended for a design of an ESP syllabus for Hotel and Tourism students of Technological College of Port Sudan. The paper adopted the descriptive analytic method. The data for the paper were collected by means of a questionnaire and analysed statistically as a result of the analysis, it was found that students need English for their specific study to increase their knowledge. They need to study all the four skills of language. They also need a healthy classroom environment. Based on these needs, it is recommended that a suitable syllabus for HT students should be designed in order to enable then satisfy their needs. Designing a syllabus for a certain target learner unquestionably requires a short teacher training phase during which such teachers get acquainted with the syllabus structure, learners basic needs and appropriate ESP classroom methodology and techniques.
