Ibrahim, Salim Hussain
Extracorporeal septoplasty (ECS) is a surgical approach for correction of severe septal deviation. This is a retrospective case study to find the percentage, nasal septal pathology, and outcomes of ECS among patients with deviated nose treated by primary closed septorhinoplasty at Salah-Elden governorate in Iraq during six years period. The percentage of indication for ECS in correction of a deviated nose was (22.6 %, 26 out of 115 patients). The nasal septal pathology was mainly in the anterior part, in cottle's area I, pathology was found in all (26 patients,100%) and in cottle's areas II and III was (92.3%).
The neoseptum with the spreader grafts was fixed dorsally by two transcutaneous sutures and caudal septum fixed into groove between medial crura and to the anterior nasal spine. Patient and surgeon satisfaction regarding the cosmetic outcomes were very good in (22 patients, 80.8%), while excellent functional outcomes happened in (25 patient, 96.2%) who get relief of nasal obstruction.

Sarhat, Entedhar R.; Saeed, Husamuldeen Salim Mohammed
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycaemia
resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both, and occurs in almost all
populations of the world a variable prevalence.
Objectives: The current study assessed the impact of lycopene on adipokines and
paraoxonase (PON) in stereptozotocin-induced diabetic rabbits.
Materials and Methods: A total of one hundred of rabbits (Albino Rabbits) of both sexes
weighing between 1.5-2.1 kg were completely randomized in four groups (G) comprising 25
rabbits each. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (35
mg/kg body weight) feeding on a high fat regimen. Rabbits in G 3,4 which were administered
10 and 20 mg/kg respectively of lycopene for 4 weeks. The serum levels of leptin,
adiponectin, ghrelin, resistin, and tumour necrosis factor – α (TNF-α) were measured by
enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while serum PON was measured by
spectrophotometric method. SPSS computer software was used for data analysis.
Results:Results showed that lycopene administration at both doses significantly reduced the
leptin, resistin, TNF-α, and glucose levels compared to diabetic control groupG2. Consistent
significant increases (p < 0.05) were noticed in the level of paraoxonase, adiponectin, and
ghrelin in diabetic rabbits dealt with lycopene in comparison with diabetic rabbits of control
group G2.
Conclusions: The high leptin, resistin, and TNF-α levels and oxidative damage whereas low
linked with diabetes, were improved with the administration of lycopene.

Solar Photocatalytic Decolorization of Four Commercial Dyes in Aqueous Solution of Two Forms of Titanium Dioxide TiO2
A, Yasmin A.; A, Adil; A, Elmugdad A.
The photocatalytic decolorization of four commercial dyes with different structures and
different substitute groups has been investigated using pure TiO2 and TiO2 sol-gel as
photocatalysts in aqueous solution under solar radiation. Influence of different kinds of dye
and photocatalyst on photo-catalytic process was studied. Solution temperature and daily
photon flux during experiment was calculated. The result decolorization percentage of four
dyes was in the following order: reactive yellow > methylene blue > tubantin blue > tubantin
red; this is due to molecular structural difference among these four molecules of dyes. High
decolorization when used TiO2 sol-gel due to small particle size, small surface area and wide
energy gab. The daily photon flux average was nearly constant during the experiments, owing
to its large surface area pure TiO2 caused higher average solution temperature than caused by
TiO2 sol-gel when they are used as potocatalytic decolorizers.
