dc.description.abstractThis study deals with overview on synthesis, preparation, quality assurance, and diagnostic applications of fluorine-18 radiopharmaceutical in contemporary nuclear medicine. It's well known that the 18F played a revolutional role in diagnostic procedure using positron emission tomography (PET). The study covers the general chemistry of fluorine compounds including physical and chemical properties, and all reactions which can be made by F-18 with other materials, it also cover the production and decay scheme of 18F using medical cyclotrons. Preparation and quality assurance of 18F-radiopharmaceuticals is of great importance, it takes a whole chapter with full details. The main field using 18F is PET, so we introduce a chapter describing the PET system, and then we deliver to diagnostic application in PET exactly the 18F-FDG radiopharmaceuticals. v We find that the 18F is considered as amongst principal indicator nuclides in positron emission tomography (PET), and 18F-FDG-CT appears to be an accurate method to diagnosis and to define the extent or early recurrence of the most current diseasesen_US
