Abstract: This study was carried out to determine the level of contamination in some animal products (meat , milk and egg),that sold in four public markets in Khartoum state (Jackson, Mayo , Alftahab and Souk Seta) . The lead concentration in animal products was determined in the central laboratory, (Shambat complex) Khartoum university , whereas the assessment of total bacterial count and the contaminants (e.g salmonella and E.coli) of animal product samples was done in the microbiological laboratory (Kuku complex) Sudan university for science and technology. The results showed that, there were significant differences )p< 0.05( ,of lead level in meat samples. Souk Seta reported the highest lead level (0.11μg/g) in meat samples compared to other three public markets and the limits of SSMO (the permissible limits) of lead level in meat(0.1μg/g),(2008a).No significance difference between milk samples from different markets, but Mayo market showed the highest concentration of lead in milk(0.0023μg/ml),compared to other markets and but less than the limits of SSMO (0.02μg/ml),(2008b).Regarding the results of egg samples, no significance difference between four public markets in Khartoum state, but Alftahab market showed a higher lead concentration, (0.133μg/ml).The result of bacterial contamination revealed no significance difference between meat ,milk and egg samples of different markets, hence Souk Seta meat samples reported highest bacterial count (5.33±3.06 CFU/g×106), whereas in milk samples Alftahab market recorded the highest bacterial count ( 6.00±2.00 CFU/g×106), similarly Mayo market reported highest total bacterial count in egg, (5.00±1.00 CFU/g×106). VI The bacterial contaminants results showed the presence of salmonella and /or E.coli in meat , milk and egg samples in the four public markets in Khartoum state. These results )total bacterial count and bacterial contaminants) were not matching with SSMO specification,(2008c and 2007).
